‘Build the future’ is the theme of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, which is an apt way of describing the impact our apprentices are having within the Headstar team.
Over the past four years, we have welcomed three apprentices through our door, giving them the chance to earn while they learn and build a strong foundation for a successful career.
Our first apprentice, Niamh Hellewell, joined back in 2018, and says, ‘I am really happy that I chose to go down the apprenticeship route, rather than going to university as it has allowed me to gain hands-on experience and find a career I love. I now have 5 years’ experience within transactional finance recruitment and with the support from the directors at Headstar, I’m looking forward to seeing where my career will take me.’
Niamh’s experience has now come full circle, as in her current role as Consultant, she is overseeing our newest apprentice, Maisie Clay, who recently joined the team in September 2021. Maisie is already well settled into her role helping to resource candidates in transactional finance. And coincidentally, she also placed her first candidate during National Apprenticeship Week, who is delighted with the service that she received.
Reflecting on her experience to date, Maisie said, ‘I’m glad that I have got the opportunity to carry out an apprenticeship with an amazing business like Headstar. I have learnt so much already, have felt highly supported within my role and I am looking forward to progressing within my career at Headstar.’
Meanwhile, our Operations Manager, Georgia Dutton, progressed to her role from starting as an apprentice as well. ‘My manager and the whole team were always really supportive and gave me the time I needed to balance the workload between my job and coursework,’ said Georgia. ‘The course itself was really good for general business understanding and the knowledge I gained during that 18 months helped me work towards my current role within operations. I feel very grateful to have been given the chance to join the team and be part of something very special as the business continues to grow and develop.’
And who knows what the future will hold? We look forward to welcoming more apprentices in the coming years as the business expands and seeing how their recruitment careers unfold.
